EECP therapy in Seremban & Melaka

Help your heart without surgery.

Enhanced External Counterpulsation is a non-invasive outpatient treatment for chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. No needles, no incisions, no hospital stay.

Free trial available until 31 October only.

Cuffs squeeze from calves upward between heartbeats, pushing blood back towards the heart, then release just before the next beat.

What is EECP

A gentle push that works with your heartbeat

During EECP you lie comfortably on a treatment bed with inflatable cuffs wrapped around your calves, thighs and hips. The cuffs are timed to your heartbeat using an ECG.

When your heart rests between beats, the cuffs inflate and push more blood towards the heart. Just before the next beat they deflate, which lowers the work your heart has to do. Over a full course, this is thought to help improve blood flow to heart muscle.

  1. Doctor assessment

A specialist reviews your heart condition and history to check EECP is safe and suitable for you.

  2. Getting set up

ECG stickers go on your chest and the cuffs go around your legs. You stay dressed in comfortable clothing.

  3. Your session

You relax for about an hour while the cuffs squeeze and release in rhythm. Many people read, listen to music or nap.

  4. Your course

A typical course is around 35 sessions spread over several weeks, with progress reviewed along the way.

Patient story

Hear from one of our patients

Watch one of our patients share their experience of EECP therapy at Harmoni. Every patient is different, and results vary from person to person.

Benefits

Why patients choose EECP

Results vary from person to person. Your doctor will explain what you can realistically expect.

Fewer chest pain episodes

Many patients with stable angina have less frequent and less severe chest pain after a full course.

More energy for daily life

Walking, climbing stairs and everyday activities often become easier as exercise tolerance improves.

No surgery or needles

Completely non-invasive. No incisions, no anaesthesia and no hospital admission.

No recovery time

Go straight back to work or home after each session. There is no downtime.

Better blood flow

Repeated sessions are believed to encourage healthier blood vessel function and circulation to the heart.

An option when others are limited

Can help people who still have symptoms despite medication, or who are not suited to bypass or stenting.

Monitored every session

Your heart rhythm is tracked throughout by trained staff in our dedicated EECP room.

Works alongside your treatment

EECP complements your existing medication and heart care plan rather than replacing it.

Is EECP right for me

Who it may help

Only a doctor can confirm whether EECP is suitable for you. This is a general guide.

May be suitable if you have

  • Stable angina (chest pain from reduced blood flow to the heart)
  • Ongoing symptoms despite taking heart medication
  • Been told you are not a good candidate for bypass or stenting
  • Chest pain that limits your walking or daily activities

Usually not suitable if you have

  • Severe leaking of the aortic valve
  • A blood clot in the leg (DVT) or active vein inflammation
  • An aortic aneurysm, or very high blood pressure that isn't controlled
  • Pregnancy, or certain heart rhythm or bleeding problems

Your specialist will go through your full medical history before starting treatment.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does EECP hurt?

Most people find it comfortable. It feels like a firm hug on your legs in rhythm with your heartbeat. Pressure is adjusted to what you can tolerate.

Are there side effects?

EECP is generally well tolerated. Some people notice tiredness, mild skin irritation or soreness where the cuffs sit, especially early in the course. Our team checks on you every session.

When will I feel a difference?

Some patients notice changes partway through their course, while for others it takes the full course. Your doctor will review your progress regularly.

Do I stop my heart medication?

No. EECP works alongside your current treatment. Never stop or change medication without talking to your doctor.

What should I wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing. Many patients wear snug-fitting leggings or tights under the cuffs to protect their skin.

Is it covered by insurance?

Coverage depends on your insurer or company panel. Contact us with your details and our team will help you check.
